The Tour

Departure from Cairns

The day begins at the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns, where guests check in and receive a warm welcome from the crew. The luxury superyacht Evolution departs, heading towards the Outer Great Barrier Reef.

First Reef Location

Upon arrival at the first reef location, either Saxon or Norman Reef, guests have the opportunity to snorkel or dive. All necessary equipment is provided, and guidance is available for those who need it.

BBQ Lunch

A BBQ buffet lunch is served onboard, featuring fresh fish, steak, prawns, and salads. The menu caters to various dietary needs, ensuring everyone enjoys a satisfying meal.

Second Reef Location

The tour continues to the second reef location, North Hastings Reef. Guests can snorkel or dive again, or choose from optional activities such as a scenic helicopter flight or a semi-submersible coral viewing tour.

Return to Cairns

As the day winds down, the yacht departs the reef and heads back to Cairns. Guests can relax with a glass of wine and afternoon tea, reflecting on their day of exploration and adventure.

Meeting point

You can join the Evolution Outer Reef Cruise by making your own way to the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns or by choosing a pickup from accommodation or central points across the area. Multiple departure times are available. The exact meeting point and time will be confirmed when you select your date.

Snorkelling suitability

The tour is suitable for all snorkelling levels, from beginners to experienced snorkellers.

Diving requirements

Divers over 65 need medical clearance. All divers must complete a medical questionnaire. The minimum age for introductory divers is 12 years; for certified divers, it is 10 years. Certified divers must show a scuba card.

Food and drink

A BBQ buffet lunch is provided, featuring fish, prawns, steak, and salads. Special dietary needs are catered for. Tea, coffee, and mini-muffins are served on arrival, and a glass of wine and cheese on return.

Weather dependency

Helicopter rides and semi-submarine tours are weather-dependent. The itinerary may be adjusted based on weather conditions.
